Evidence-based information on Managing co-occurring alcohol and other drug and mental health conditions

This website and training aim to provide evidence-based information, training and resources to facilitate the translation and online dissemination of the “Guidelines on the management of co-occurring alcohol and other drug and mental health conditions in alcohol and other drug treatment settings (3rd edition)” published in 2022. This website and online training program supersede the second edition website and online training program, which were decommissioned on 30th January 2023 and are no longer available.

Although developed primarily for alcohol and other drug workers, the content may also be useful for other healthcare providers, as well as people undertaking studies in mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and public health.

This website and training program were developed by Associate Professor Christina Marel, Ms Erin Madden, Dr Ewa Siedlecka, Dr Jack Wilson, Professor Maree Teesson and Professor Katherine Mills at the Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use, University of Sydney. The development was funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, in consultation with families and carers, people with lived experience of mental health and substance use, clinicians, academics, researchers, policy makers.

This website hosts the online content of the Guidelines, online training, train-the-trainer and face-to-face training, and links to other resources.
