No specific training is required to administer or score the AUDIT. Scores on each of the 10 items are summed (questions 1 to 8 are scored on a 0 to 4 scale and 9 and 10 are scored 0,2,4), with a score of 8 or more indicating hazardous or harmful alcohol use [519].
